Anxiety and Panic Attacks

Anxiety, Anxiety attacks, Panic Attacks, or the fearful feelings, without any reality-based danger can be very debilitating.

Are you experiencing an emotional state of worry or deep concern that lingers on and on and causes you to dread certain times of day or certain environments? Do you have panic attacks?

Anxiety Attacks: Do you suffer with a fear that something bad is going to happen? Is there the tendency to worry and obsess about something to the point that you think that you are going insane? That you are losing control of yourself? That you are going to die? That you can’t breathe or that you will faint, or embarrass yourself?

Once you have these thoughts racing through your mind, your adrenaline response is activated. A signal is sent to the brain and the nervous system is warned that danger is present or possible. Your innate “flight or fight” response kicks in – your body gets prepared to DEFEND you and this all began from a THOUGHT, no real danger.

person having a panic attack in need of anxiety therapyAnxiety is a condition you can recover from. Through Cognitive Behaviorial Therapy I can help you to learn to restructure, or alter, your thoughts and reactions. A basic type of reprogramming. Once you gain understanding of your fears, and gain some insights into their origin, you can learn to start catching those fearful thoughts when you first start thinking about them. In therapy, you can start to expose the reality of the “threat” before you work your body up to defense responses. You can be free from your anxiety and I can facilitate your mastering of it. Cognitive therapy has proven to be extremely effective in treating anxiety disorders.

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face… The danger lies in refusing to face the fear, in not daring to come to grips with it…. You must make yourself succeed every time… You must do the thing you think you cannot do…”
~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Anxiety Disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S. with 19.1 million (13.3%) of the adult U.S. population (ages 18-54) affected.
